7 Reasons Training Like an Athlete Makes Life Better

Plus 2 bonus reasons that might change the way you think about fitness.

When most people hear the word athlete, they think about someone playing a sport.

But at Krave, ATHLETE means something bigger:

A.T.H.L.E.T.E.

Achieve The Highest Level of Excellence Through Effort.

You do not need to play football, run races, or compete in anything to be an athlete. Being an athlete is about having an athlete mindset and putting in the effort to become the best version of yourself.

Because life is your sport. And when you start training for life instead of just working out, fitness starts to mean a whole lot more.

It is not just about burning calories. It is not just about losing weight. And it is definitely not about beating yourself up for what you ate over the weekend. It is about becoming stronger, more confident, and more capable for the life you want to live.

1. Doing hard shit in the gym makes hard things in life easier.

Some workouts are hard. Some days you will want to quit. There will be weights that feel heavy and challenges that make you wonder if you can finish... Then you do.

Every time you push through something hard in the gym, you remind yourself that you can do hard things outside of it too.

Work gets hard. Parenting gets hard. Life gets hard. But training does not make those things go away and it helps make you stronger when they happen.

2. You start training for what your body can DO.

There is nothing wrong with wanting to lose weight or look better. Most of us have had those goals. But something really cool happens when your goals start to change.

Instead of only asking, “What does my body look like?” you start asking, “What can my body do?”

Can I lift more? Run farther? Move better? Keep up with my kids? Carry all the groceries in one trip? Mow the lawn in record time? You stop fighting your body and start building it.

3. You get a COACH instead of another workout.

You can find a million workouts online for free.

But a workout cannot watch your form. It cannot tell you when to add weight, when to slow down, or when you have more in you.

A COACH can.

Athletes have coaches for a reason. A good coach teaches you, pushes you, and helps you get better over time.

You should not have to walk into the gym and wonder what the hell you are supposed to do.

Show up. Get coached. Train with purpose.

4. You train with BALANCE.

Life does not require you to be good at just one thing, so your training should not either. You need strength to lift and carry things. You need conditioning to keep going. You need a coach to help you improve, and you need a TEAM to make the whole thing better.

That is why we believe in strength AND conditioning. We are not training you for one workout.

We are training you for LIFE.

5. You find your TEAM.

People know your name.

They notice when you are gone. They cheer when you do something you have never done before. They struggle beside you, laugh with you, and sometimes give you the little push you need.

Your team creates ACCOUNTABILITY without making fitness feel like punishment. It is a lot easier to keep showing up when you know you are not doing it alone.

Same goal. Bigger together.

6. You build CONFIDENCE.

Confidence does not come from someone telling you that you can do something. It comes from proving it to yourself.

You lift a weight you never thought you could lift. You finish the mile you were nervous about. You make it through the workout you almost skipped.

Those little wins start adding up. Soon you are not just physically stronger. You start walking into the rest of your life thinking, “I can do this.” That might be one of the best results training can give you.

7. You get RESULTS that matter in real life.

Yes, you may lose weight. You may build muscle. Your clothes may fit differently. Those things are great. But what about having more energy? Feeling stronger? Moving better? Having the conditioning to hike, play with your kids, sign up for a race, or say YES when an opportunity comes along?

Those are results too.

We do not want you fit enough to simply get through a workout. We want you fit enough to LIVE.

BONUS #1: Training gives you something to chase besides the scale.

The scale can mess with your head. You can have an amazing week, feel stronger, and have more energy, then step on the scale and let one number ruin all of it.

Training like an athlete gives you more ways to win.

Maybe you lifted five more pounds. Maybe you ran your fastest mile. Maybe you used a heavier dumbbell. Maybe you finished something you could not finish eight weeks ago. Now fitness becomes about PROGRESS, not perfection.

BONUS #2: You start seeing yourself as an ATHLETE.

This one is a big deal to us because being an athlete has nothing to do with how you look.

At Krave, ATHLETE means:

Achieve The Highest Level of Excellence Through Effort.

Not talent.

Not being the fastest.

Not being the strongest.

EFFORT.

You show up. You train. You learn. You work hard. You support your TEAM. You keep trying to get a little better. That is what makes you an athlete.

And eventually, you start realizing you are capable of a hell of a lot more than you thought. That is why we do things differently at Krave.

We do not want you to just work out. We want you to train with a COACH, be surrounded by a TEAM, have ACCOUNTABILITY, build CONFIDENCE, and get RESULTS that make your LIFE better.

LIFE IS A SPORT.

Train for it. Live like an ATHLETE. Dominate the Sport of Life.
